Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) has announced its decision to approach international forums regarding what it deems as India’s violation of the Indus Waters Treaty. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where officials reviewed India’s recent unilateral actions following an incident in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
During the meeting, the NSC discussed a range of provocative measures initiated by India, including:
- Suspending the Indus Waters Treaty,
- Imposing restrictions on Pakistani nationals,

The committee reviewed these developments and assessed countermeasures in response. Special emphasis was placed on “false flag operation” in Pahalgam, used by India to justify its aggressive actions.
The NSC “unanimously rejected” India’s accusations against Pakistan and approved a strategy to address the situation. It resolved to raise the issue of India’s treaty violations at prominent international platforms, emphasizing Pakistan’s non-acceptance of any form of aggression. The committee also reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a firm and proportionate response to any potential misadventures.
The meeting highlighted Pakistan’s confidence in the preparedness and capabilities of its armed forces to defend the country. Attendees included senior officials such as the Deputy Prime Minister, key federal ministers, military chiefs, intelligence officials, and advisors. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also been actively consulting on diplomatic responses to India’s actions.
