Two Levies officials were tragically killed in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Wednesday while providing security for a polio vaccination team, an official confirmed.
According to Mastung Assistant Commissioner Akram Harifal, the attack occurred in the Teeri area. One officer died at the scene, while the second succumbed to his injuries on the way to Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Memorial Hospital. Law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident, and security measures for vaccination teams have been intensified.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack, stressing that terrorists targeting innocent lives are enemies of humanity and will be brought to justice. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating polio and urged the public to continue protecting their children’s future through vaccination efforts.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind also condemned the attack, assuring a thorough investigation. He emphasized that the polio campaign would proceed without compromise and praised the sacrifices of the security personnel involved.
Earlier in the week, a similar attack on a polio security detail was reported in South Waziristan, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by those working to end polio in the country.
