Balochistan: Four charged for illegal hunting of rare sulemani markhor

The Balochistan Forest and Wildlife Department conducted an operation in the outskirts of Quetta, filing a case against 4 individuals involved in the illegal hunting of the rare Sulemani Markhor, and arrested two suspects.

According to officials from the Balochistan Forest and Wildlife Department, information was received about some individuals involved in the illegal hunting of the rare Sulemani Markhor at Takatu National Park, located near Quetta.

These individuals were trapping and illegally hunting the Markhor in the area. Acting on this information, a case has been filed against 4 individuals.

Officials revealed that the suspects were also found threatening department personnel. The suspects include public servants named Rozi Khan, Kaleemullah, Saifullah, and Gohar Khan.

Out of the four, two suspects have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining two. Additionally, departmental action has been initiated against the suspects.

It is worth noting that the Sulemani Markhor is one of the rare animals declared as a national heritage of Pakistan. The Sulemani Markhor is found in Takatu National Park and the surrounding mountains.
