Electricity in the Makran region of Pakistan, supplied from Iran, has been fully restored after a two-day outage, the Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) confirmed on Tuesday. The power outage had left residents struggling in extreme temperatures of up to 50°C.
According to Qesco, power supply was reinstated at 1 AM Tuesday via the 132-KV Pishin-Mand and Polan-Jiwani transmission lines. The restored electricity now serves grid stations in several areas, including Mand, Tump, Turbat, Hoshab, Panjgur, Jiwani, Gwadar Door, Gwadar Deep Sea Port, New Gwadar International Airport, Pasni, and Ormara.
The outage began on Sunday at 2:30 PM, affecting the entire Makran Division, including Gwadar, Kech, and Panjgur. The Qesco spokesperson stated that the power suspension caused significant hardships for residents enduring the sweltering heat. To mitigate the impact, Qesco temporarily connected affected grid stations to the national grid until full restoration was possible.
