LORALAI/PANJGUR, Balochistan:Loralai police thwart a major terror plot after recovering explosives including TNT and IEDs, while a civilian was killed in firing incident in Panjgur, Balochistan.
Law enforcement agencies in Balochistan successfully foiled a major terror plot after recovering a large cache of explosives during an intelligence-based operation in Loralai, officials confirmed on Sunday.
Speaking at a press conference, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Loralai Range Junaid Ahmed Sheikh, accompanied by SSP Loralai Dr. Fahad Ahmed, revealed that the police acted swiftly on confidential intelligence to prevent a potentially devastating attack.
Heavy Explosives Recovered in Loralai Operation
According to officials, the operation was conducted in the mountainous area of Puri Takk (Podi Tak), where security forces recovered a significant quantity of explosives intended for large scale attacks.
The seized explosives included:
- 10 kilograms of TNT
- 8 kilograms of black explosive material
- 4 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) – including 2 small and 2 large
- 11 detonators
- 6 meters of safety fuse
- 165 rounds of SMG ammunition
- 1 kilogram of ball bearings
- 11 meters of detonating cord
Officials said the explosives were capable of causing large-scale destruction and loss of life if used.
DIG Junaid Ahmed Sheikh emphasized that police have consistently played a frontline role in counter-terrorism efforts and will continue operations to ensure peace and stability in the region. He added that public cooperation remains crucial in identifying and eliminating such threats.
Civilian Killed in Firing Incident in Panjgur
In a separate incident, banned BLA’s armed men opened fire in the Prom area of Panjgur, resulting in the death of a civilian identified as Akhtar, son of Anwar.
Sources attributed the attack to militants linked with the Baloch Liberation Army, a banned outfit operating in parts of Balochistan.
According to documented figures and incidents, the group has been involved in killing more than a dozen people in the past three months, raising serious concerns about the worsening law and order situation in the region.

The twin incidents highlight the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, where law enforcement agencies continue to combat terrorism and targeted violence.
