Three Levies personnel kidnapped during raid; two later released while one remains missing
Armed men launched an attack on a Levies checkpost in Gidar, a town in the Surab district of Balochistan, late Monday night, abducting three Levies officials before releasing two of them, police confirmed.
According to police sources, a group of unidentified armed men raided the checkpost and kidnapped three officers — identified as Ghulam Mustafa, Amanullah, and Naseebullah. The assailants reportedly took them away at gunpoint, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and Levies reinforcements.
Two officers released, one remains missing
Police said the attackers later released two of the kidnapped officers, Amanullah and Naseebullah, while Ghulam Mustafa remains in captivity and is believed to have been taken to an unknown location.
Security forces have since launched an extensive search operation in and around the Gidar area to trace the missing officer and apprehend those behind the assault.
Recent attacks in Balochistan highlight rising threats
The incident follows another foiled terrorist attack in the Bolan district on October 27, when security forces responded swiftly in the Bhag Nari area.
Militants attempted to loot the National Bank and launch coordinated assaults on the Bhag Nari Police Station and City Police Station. The attackers also damaged the Levies Station and attempted to target the Tehsil Office.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a large-scale clearance operation to track down the fleeing militants.
Background
The Levies Force, responsible for maintaining law and order in large parts of Balochistan, has faced repeated attacks from armed groups operating in remote districts. Officials say such incidents underscore the need for stronger intelligence and community policing in volatile regions.
