62 Balochistan levies officials suspended over bribery charges

 A total of 62 Levies personnel, including senior officers, constables, and drivers, have been suspended across 18 districts in Balochistan over charges of accepting bribes at various checkpoints, officials confirmed.

The suspensions came following an order from Balochistan Levies Director General Abdul Ghaffar Magsi after several complaints from truck drivers, passengers, and other travelers. Complaints detailed instances of personnel soliciting bribes on highways and roads.

An official notification stated, “The DG Levies has taken serious notice of the bribery reports and has immediately suspended 62 officers and constables to be involved in these activities at checkpoints.”

DG Magsi reiterated the department’s commitment to eradicating corruption with a “zero tolerance policy.” He emphasized that strict action would be taken against any personnel found guilty. “Corruption and negligence have no place in the Levies force,” he stated.

The suspended officials, hailing from districts such as Qila Abdullah, Chaman, Pishin, Khuzdar, and Jhal Magsi, include ranks such as risaldars, naib risaldars, daffadars, havaldars, sepoys, and drivers. Specific districts like Zhob, Sibi, Panjgur, and Noshki were also implicated.

To ensure a transparent inquiry, Dr. Mir Wais Khan, Director Admin, has been appointed as the investigation officer. He is tasked with probing the  and is expected to submit a comprehensive report within 15 days.

This decisive move underscores the department’s dedication to maintaining accountability and ethical conduct within its ranks.
