Security forces arrested 17-year-old Anas Baloch. He is a resident of Khuzdar and allegedly involved in the January 26 attack on a passenger bus. The attack resulted in one fatality. Seven others were injured.
According to official sources, Anas Baloch is accused of being a member of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). Investigations revealed that he played a key role in facilitating and executing improvised explosive device (IED) attacks targeting security forces. Authorities claim that Anas was responsible for creating video footage after attacks, which was subsequently used by the BLA to claim responsibility.
An official familiar with the investigation spoke on condition of anonymity. The official stated, “Anas was tasked with filming vehicles after the VBIED attack.” The VBIED stands for vehicle-born improvised explosive device. The same footage was later released by the terrorist organization. The organization used the footage to claim responsibility.
Meanwhile, claims surfaced on social media suggesting that Anas Baloch had been forcefully disappeared by security forces. These claims were amplified by senior journalist Hamid Mir and former minister Shireen Mazari, who retweeted posts from accounts alleging his disappearance. However, security officials have clarified that Anas is in custody and facing legal proceedings related to terrorism charges.
Authorities continue to investigate the extent of Anas Baloch’s involvement with the BLA and his role in recent attacks in Khuzdar.
