Two police officials, including Balochistan’s first female constable, were martyred and two others injured in a militant attack during a raid in Khuzdar’s Bajooi area.
At least two police personnel, including a female constable, were martyred and two others injured during an exchange of fire between police and armed assailants in the Bajooi area of Khuzdar District, officials said on Sunday.
According to a police spokesperson, the incident took place when a police team conducted a raid following a complaint about the theft of solar panels. During the operation, armed militants opened fire, triggering a heavy exchange.
Police confirmed that Head Constable Samiullah and Lady Constable Malik Naz were martyred in the attack. Malik Naz is believed to be the first female police officer in Balochistan’s history to be martyred in a terrorism-related incident.
Two officials, including Additional SHO Ibrahim and Constable Najeeb ur Rehman, sustained injuries in the firing. The injured and the bodies of the martyrs were shifted to Civil Hospital Khuzdar for treatment and medico-legal procedures.
The police spokesperson stated that the personnel refused to surrender and fought bravely against the attackers. A search operation is currently underway in the area to apprehend those involved.
Meanwhile, a heavy contingent of security forces has reached the area, and efforts are ongoing to secure the area and prevent further incidents.
