According to Security forces they launched the operation after receiving intelligence about the presence and movement of terrorists in the area. An exchange of fire followed, during which Miral Baloch and several other militants were reportedly killed.
The area has subsequently been cordoned off, with search and sanitisation operations continuing to determine whether other terrorists or facilitators remain in the vicinity. Further details, including the identities of those killed and any weapons or explosives recovered, are awaited.

Kharan itself has witnessed previous security actions. In a recent operation in the Lajay area, seven terrorists were reportedly killed after security forces acted on intelligence about a militant presence.
Other operations have also disrupted planned attacks. In Panjgur, five terrorists were recently reported killed, with weapons, vehicles, motorcycles and an improvised explosive device recovered from the site.
Why the Kharan Operation Matters
The latest development is significant because militant networks operating in Balochistan depend on commanders, facilitators and local support structures to maintain their operations. Removing senior field-level figures can disrupt communication, movement and the ability to organise attacks.
The wider security challenge has also affected civilian communities. Recent incidents in Mastung and Khadkoocha, including attacks that killed six workers in two different incidents, have demonstrated that militant violence extends beyond security installations and can directly threaten ordinary residents.
