Security forces and law enforcement agencies in Balochistan have successfully rescued a minor girl, Khair-un-Nisa, being groomed by the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), also referred to by officials as Fitna al-Hindustan, for a planned suicide attack in Islamabad.
The operation, carried out through an intelligence-based intervention, prevented what officials described as a major potential terrorist attack in the federal capital.
Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said the case exposed how terrorist networks are increasingly targeting vulnerable youth, particularly young girls, through psychological manipulation, coercion, threats, and extremist indoctrination.
According to the chief minister, Khair-un-Nisa, a resident of Turbat, had been subjected to intense mental pressure and intimidation by individuals linked to the banned militant network. He stated that timely action by intelligence and security agencies not only saved the girl’s life but also thwarted a possible terror incident in Islamabad.
Khair-un-Nisa was later safely reunited with her father, who belongs to a poor family and works as a truck driver.
Terror Networks Using Fear and Manipulation
Officials said investigations revealed links between the case and the banned BLA network. Authorities alleged that the group attempted to exploit the girl and her family through fear, emotional pressure, and threats.
During the media briefing, Sarfaraz Bugti said terrorist organizations were no longer relying solely on ideological narratives but were increasingly using coercion and psychological tactics to recruit vulnerable individuals, especially women and minors.
He also alleged that certain India-linked proxy networks and social media accounts were amplifying extremist narratives as part of a coordinated propaganda campaign targeting Balochistan.
The chief minister stressed that the people of Balochistan are peaceful and should not be associated with extremist violence. He vowed that operations against terrorist networks would continue at every level and warned that the exploitation of women and children would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Security Operations Intensified in Balochistan
Officials stated that security forces have intensified counterterrorism operations across Balochistan in recent months. According to the provincial government, 216 terrorists were killed during multiple intelligence-based operations, while several planned attacks were foiled before execution.
Sarfaraz Bugti praised the professionalism and timely response of intelligence agencies and law enforcement personnel, calling the rescue operation a major success in Pakistan’s ongoing fight against terrorism.
Adviser to the Chief Minister on Sports and Culture Meena Majid, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Hamza Shafqaat, and government spokesperson Shahid Rind were also present during the press conference.
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar Warns of Rising Radicalization
Former Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar said militancy should not be viewed only through the lens of deprivation, warning that extremist organizations are increasingly influencing young kids and children by glorifying violent individuals as role models.
Kakar said the normalization of extremist thinking in society had become a serious concern and noted that several cases had emerged in which children were allegedly brainwashed and prepared for extremist activities.
According to him, such developments indicate a systematic effort to target vulnerable minds and manipulate youth through radical narratives and ideological indoctrination.
He urged society, academia, intellectual circles, and media organizations to openly confront extremist narratives instead of remaining silent. Kakar warned that allowing radical propaganda to spread unchecked would further endanger social stability.
Experts Highlight Role of Social Media in Radicalization
Security analyst Syed Muhammad Ali said Pakistan’s intelligence agencies played a critical role in preventing a serious national security threat.
He warned that extremist networks were increasingly targeting innocent girls from remote and less educated areas through mobile phones and social media platforms. According to him, terrorist groups are using online propaganda, coercion, and anti-state narratives to gradually radicalize vulnerable youth.
Syed Muhammad Ali termed the rescue operation a significant success that prevented a potential tragedy while ensuring the safety of the minor girl.
Farah Azeem also praised the operation, saying it exposed the tactics used by extremist organizations operating under Fitna al-Hindustan. She stated that such groups were resorting to blackmail, manipulation, and coercion of young girls for terrorist activities.
She added that while the state was investing in education, scholarships, universities, and skill development programs for youth, extremist organizations were attempting to misuse vulnerable young people, particularly women, for violence and instability.
Farah Azeem emphasized that the people of Balochistan had rejected such extremist elements, saying they neither represented Baloch traditions nor Islamic values.
The Khair-un-Nisa case has once again highlighted growing concerns over the evolving tactics used by militant organizations in Pakistan.
Officials believe the incident demonstrates that modern extremist recruitment increasingly relies on psychological pressure, emotional manipulation, online radicalization, and threats rather than traditional ideological methods alone.
Authorities maintain that timely intelligence coordination and preventive operations remain essential in countering terrorism and protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation.
