Field Marshal Asim Munir visits flood-hit Punjab, vows to restore Kartarpur and support locals

Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, visited flood-affected areas in Punjab, including Sialkot, Shakargarh, Narowal, and Kartarpur, to evaluate disaster response efforts and ongoing relief activities.

During the visit, the Army Chief received detailed briefings on the current situation and preparations for anticipated additional rainfall. He commended military personnel and civilian administrators for their coordinated efforts in rescue and relief operations across the affected regions.

In a noteworthy gesture, Field Marshal Munir met with members of the local Sikh community, assuring them that all flood-damaged religious sites, including the historic Durbar Sahib Kartarpur, would be fully restored as a top priority. He emphasized that protecting religious minorities and their sacred sites is a core responsibility of the state, which Pakistan is committed to upholding.

The Sikh community warmly welcomed the Army Chief’s visit, expressing gratitude for the assistance provided by both military and civilian authorities during the crisis.

Field Marshal Munir also conducted an aerial survey of Durbar Sahib Kartarpur to assess the extent of the damage. Additionally, he met with civil administration officials, praising their swift actions in minimizing casualties and property losses.

While addressing troops on the ground, the Army Chief lauded their dedication, readiness, and tireless efforts in carrying out rescue operations under challenging conditions.

Field Marshal Munir was received in the region by the Corps Commander Gujranwala, marking the start of his visit to oversee the flood relief efforts firsthand.
