In a major counter-terrorism success, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) jointly conducted an operation in the Ambari Kalla area of Karak district, killing a top commander of a banned organization after a fierce four-hour gun battle.
According to officials, the operation was launched following credible intelligence reports. During the exchange of fire, three police personnel were injured and immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The killed militant commander, identified as Hakim Nisar, was the ringleader of a terrorist network involved in multiple acts of terrorism, including suicide bombings and targeted killings across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of Pakistan.
According to sources, Hakim was believed to be the mastermind of a failed suicide bombing targeting the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed commended the bravery, professionalism, and quick response of the Karak Police, CTD, and other law enforcement agencies.
“The Karak Police have once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens, even at the risk of their own,” IGP Hameed said.
He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured officers and reaffirmed that the police’s resolve to eliminate terrorism from the province remains firm and unshaken.
The IGP also announced commendation certificates and cash rewards for the police team involved in the successful operation.
