The Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade, Bilal Khan Kakar, emphasized the pivotal role of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in advancing the province’s economic development. SEZs established in Hub and Bostan are expected to bring prosperity and generate substantial employment opportunities in the region.
Kakar underscored Balochistan’s unique geographic positioning and strategic significance, which provide immense potential for industrial expansion. He described the Hub SEZ as a nationally significant initiative that is poised to accelerate industrialization across the province, with projected socio-economic benefits including the creation of 50,000 job opportunities and the generation of approximately PKR 170 billion in tax revenue.
The Hub Special Economic Zone spans 406 acres in Balochistan’s largest industrial city and has the potential to expand by an additional 5,000 acres. To attract investors, the zone offers compelling incentives, including a 10-year tax holiday and a one-time exemption on the import of machinery and equipment.

Meanwhile, the Bostan SEZ, located in the Pishin district and covering 200 acres, is recognized as a priority project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Multiple industrial units are already under construction within this SEZ. The Government of Balochistan has implemented measures to ensure the timely provision of necessary infrastructure and facilities, fostering an environment that appeals to investors and industrialists.
The completion of these SEZs is anticipated to boost trade, accelerate industrial development, and enhance the economic landscape of the region. According to Kakar, Bostan SEZ, in particular, is positioned to become a prime destination for industries and investors, marking a significant milestone in the province’s growth.
