QUETTA: The Governor of Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, emphasized that capable and visionary leadership is pivotal to a nation’s progress, helping steer the country out of economic challenges and paving the way for sustainable development. He highlighted the importance of patriotism, urging citizens to celebrate Independence Day in a practical and meaningful manner, reflecting their national zeal.
Speaking at a ceremony at BUITEMS University as part of the Independence Day celebrations, the Governor called on citizens to renew their commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s foundations. The event saw participation from BUITEMS Vice Chancellor Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Mairwais Kasi, faculty members, political leaders, and a significant number of women.

Jaffar khan Mandokhail lauded Pakistan’s recent historic victory against India, describing it as a defining moment that uplifted the pride of Muslim nations worldwide. He referred to Balochistan as “the crown jewel of Pakistan” and Pakistan as “the crown jewel of the Muslim world.”
He also commended BUITEMS’ eco-initiatives, including planting over 10,000 trees and raising awareness about water conservation, describing these efforts as forward-thinking steps for environmental sustainability. The Governor expressed optimism about Pakistan’s future, citing the province’s abundant natural resources and minerals, and called for their efficient utilization to drive national development.
Reflecting on the sacrifices made to secure Pakistan’s independence, Mandokhail reminded the audience that freedom was hard-fought and not a gift. He urged the youth to honor this legacy by contributing to the nation’s progress. He also called on vice chancellors of public-sector universities in Balochistan to elevate academic standards and institutional performance so that the province’s universities could compete with the best in the country and attract students from major cities.
Acknowledging the issue of high tuition fees, which often hinder talented but underprivileged students, the Governor emphasized the need for accessible quality education and modern skills to safeguard Pakistan’s future.
