Jaffar Express derailed near Mastung’s Dasht after a planted bomb explosion

Six coaches of the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express derailed on Tuesday after a powerful explosion struck the train near the Dasht area of Mastung district in Balochistan.

According to railway officials, the blast was caused by a planted explosive device on the Quetta–Dasht railway track. The impact of the explosion overturned one coach and threw two others off the track, while several more were damaged.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. Rescue teams and ambulances were rushed to the site to assist passengers and move the injured to nearby hospitals.

Security officials confirmed the derailment was a targeted attack. The incident occurred just hours after Pakistani security forces conducting a clearance operation on the same railway track came under an IED attack in Mastung’s Dasht area.

Authorities believe a major tragedy was averted due to the timely response of the armed forces and railway staff. Additional security has been deployed along the Quetta–Peshawar railway line as investigations are underway.

The Jaffar Express, which runs between Quetta and Peshawar, has been targeted multiple times in the past by militants in Balochistan.
