IRAN AND PAKISTAN TO REMOVE SECURITY AND ECONOMIC BARRIERS, LARIJANI SAYS Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC).
Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Ali Larijani, has posted on X that following his recent visit to Pakistan, he declared to Pakistani officials that President Masoud Pezeshkian issued important directives aimed at removing both security and economic obstacles between the two countries.
Larijani tweeted:
“I informed Pakistani officials that @Drpezeshkian, following his visit to Pakistan, has issued important directives to remove the economic barriers between the two countries. The Supreme National Security Council will also lift any restrictions in this regard. We do not impose any limitations on cooperation with Pakistan. However, greater dynamism and practical action are needed. Robust mechanisms will be established to follow up on these matters.”
During his visit, Larijani held discussions on strategic cooperation with Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, Army Chief, Speaker of Parliament, National Security Adviser, and Foreign Minister. He emphasized that Iran places no limits on cooperation with Pakistan but stressed the need for practical steps to advance joint initiatives.
Both nations agreed to establish robust mechanisms to ensure effective follow-up and implementation of decisions. Larijani expressed optimism, stating that the future of Iran–Pakistan relations appears bright.
In terms of economic cooperation, Pakistan and Iran reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties. They set an ambitious goal of expanding bilateral trade to $10 billion in the coming years. Larijani and Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari agreed to create a clear roadmap for achieving this trade target during their meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
