Iran reduces electricity supply to Makran division, causes power disruptions

The Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) has reported a significant reduction in electricity supplied from Iran to the Makran Division, leading to increased load shedding and voltage issues.

Currently, only 20MW of power is being transmitted through the 132kV Polan-Jiwani line, which serves critical infrastructure such as the Deep Sea Port, New Gwadar International Airport, and grid stations in Gwadar, Pasni, and Ormara. Meanwhile, just 7MW is being delivered through the 132kV Pishin-Mand line for areas like Mand and Tump grid stations.

Despite these constraints, Qesco continues to supply 53MW from local grid stations in Panjgur, Hoshab, Turbat, and the 220kV Industrial Grid Station. The reduction in electricity from Iran, however, has left many areas grappling with power shortages and voltage fluctuations.

Qesco has assured residents of ongoing efforts to mitigate the situation, with the hope of resolving the issue once the electricity quota from Iran increases. The company has also issued an apology to consumers for the inconvenience caused and has requested support and patience as they work through these challenges.
