Pakistan summons Indian envoy to protest attacks

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan summoned the Indian Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad on Wednesday to lodge a strong protest over recent unprovoked airstrikes by India on several locations across Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, according to an official statement.

The foreign ministry’s spokesperson condemned the strikes, stating that they resulted in the deaths and injuries of innocent women, children, and other civilians. The statement described the attacks as a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty, as well as breaches of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the interstate code of conduct.

“Pakistan rejects India’s baseless justification for the strikes and warns that such provocations pose a grave threat to peace and stability in the region,” the statement further added.

Pakistan’s retaliation led to the downing of five Indian fighter jets and several drones, identifed as Rafale, Su-30, and MiG-29 aircraft. Pakistan’s military stated that the actions were taken after Indian aircraft targeted locations along the Line of Control.
