India has reacted to the signing of a strategic mutual defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the Indian government was aware of this development. He noted that New Delhi had seen reports about the defense pact and asserted that the government would assess its impact on India’s national security, regional stability, and global peace.

“India remains determined to safeguard its national security and interests,” Jaiswal stated.

A day earlier, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement (SMDA). Under the terms of the pact, an external armed attack on either country will be considered an attack on both. The signing reaffirms the deep bilateral relations and security cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
