Couple and son killed over 'Honor' buried after resistance in Lasbela

A man, his wife, and their three-year-old son, murdered in a so-called ‘honor killing,’ were laid to rest near Ghaghar Phatak on Thursday. Their burial in Lasbela, Balochistan, was prevented by the woman’s relatives.

The victims, identified as Abdul Majeed, 40, his wife Sakeena, 28, and their son Abdul Nabi, were found dead in their home near Ghaghar Phatak on Wednesday. Authorities reported multiple injuries inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon, such as an axe.

The couple had married by choice seven years ago, and the police suspect their marriage was the motive behind the murders.

Originally from Lasbela, the couple’s coffins were taken there for burial. However, Sakeena’s relatives opposed the burial, forcing the bodies to be returned to Karachi. They were ultimately interred near Ghaghar Phatak, confirmed police and rescue service officials.

The Edhi Foundation, which handled the transportation of the bodies, explained that the coffins were brought back to their morgue in Karachi after faced resistance in Lasbela.

Steel Town’s SHO, Aslam Billu, stated that Imam Bakhsh, the brother of Abdul Majeed, had traveled to Karachi from Lasbela to file an FIR. The murder case names Sakeena’s brother, Shahzad alias Raja, as the primary suspect.
