Nine members of a Hindu family have been freed from forced labor in a remote area of the Khuzdar district, thanks to swift action by the Levies Force.
The rescue operation took place in the Khura area of Gresha tehsil after Senator Danesh Kumar requested intervention from Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti. Responding promptly, the Chief Minister directed senior authorities to act, leading to a mission supervised by the commissioner of Kalat Division and carried out by the Levies Force.
During the operation, the family—including men, women, and children from Sindh’s Sanghar district—was found working under coercive conditions. They were allegedly misled into coming to Balochistan with false promises and were later forced to labor on farmlands at gunpoint. Two landlords, Babu and Dad Mohammad Baloch, were arrested for their involvement.
The rescued individuals have been taken to the Levies station in Naal, where their statements were recorded. Upon completing legal formalities, they will be handed over to the Hindu Panchayat.
This incident has sparked widespread condemnation as a flagrant violation of human rights. Human rights organizations, civil society groups, and the Hindu Panchayat have praised the government’s timely intervention.
Senator Danesh Kumar emphasized that such crimes against minorities are unacceptable and commended the Chief Minister for his immediate and decisive action.
