Heavy rains in Balochistan kill two, destroy homes, and damage infrastructure. Karachi braces for thunderstorms and strong winds from March 25–29.
Heavy rainfall across several districts of Balochistan has caused widespread destruction, leaving at least two people dead and multiple homes damaged, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
Officials confirmed that intense rains triggered structural collapses in different areas, with several houses reduced to rubble. The casualties occurred during rain-related incidents, highlighting the vulnerability of affected communities.
Infrastructure Damage Reported
The PDMA reported that key infrastructure was also impacted. Electricity poles were damaged in Tump, Hoshab, and Balida, disrupting power supply.
In addition, a landslide had temporarily blocked the Turbat–Bulaida road, which has now been reopened after clearance operations. However, a connecting bridge at Rudbun suffered partial damage, affecting local transportation.
Authorities are continuing to assess the situation and monitor further risks as weather conditions remain unstable.
Karachi Weather Update
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast another spell of unstable weather in Karachi. Strong winds, thunderstorms, and rainfall are expected to hit the city.
Deputy Director Met, Anjum Zaigham, stated that from March 25 to March 29, Karachi may experience rain accompanied by gusty winds and dust storms in various areas. The expected rainfall is likely to bring a slight improvement in temperature and overall weather conditions.
