Pakistani security forces have killed the mastermind behind the deadly attack on the Khazina Banda Police Check Post in Hangu during an intelligence-based operation (IBO), according to security sources.
The operation was carried out in the Chapri Naryab area of Hangu, where security forces targeted a suspected hideout of terrorists linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Security officials identified the killed terrorist ,Known as Ahmadur Rahman, also known by the aliases Muawi or Amir Muawiya.
Security officials identified him as the mastermind behind the recent Khazina Banda Police Check Post attack, which claimed the lives of 11 police personnel and left dozens injured. Authorities said he held one of the highest operational positions within the militant network, second only to commander Kazim, and was wanted for his alleged involvement in multiple terrorist attacks.
The precision strike against the high-value target was carried out as part of Operation 11 Garaj, an ongoing counterterrorism campaign aimed at dismantling militant infrastructure, destroying improvised explosive device (IED) networks, and targeting terrorist hideouts while minimizing civilian harm.
Security sources described the operation as a significant setback for the terrorist network and reiterated that efforts to track down every individual involved in the Hangu police post attack would continue. Officials stressed that all perpetrators of the assault would be brought to justice as counterterrorism operations intensify across the region.

Security Forces Vow Continued Operations
Security authorities reaffirmed that operations against all terrorists involved in the Hangu attack would continue without discrimination.
“There will be no safe haven for those responsible for the Khazina Banda attack,” security officials said, adding that every individual linked to the assault would be pursued under the law.
The successful intelligence-based operation is being viewed by officials as a response to the attack that claimed the lives of 10 policemen and injured dozens more.

On July 29, heavily armed terrorists attacked the Khazina Banda Police Check Post in Hangu, triggering one of the deadliest assaults on police personnel in recent months.
The attack resulted in the martyrdom of 10 police officers, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), while 28 others were wounded.
Following the attack, the banned TTP released a propaganda video that attempted to portray injured receiving financial assistance while presenting the terrorist organization as a charitable entity. Authorities rejected the narrative, describing it as part of the group’s propaganda campaign aimed at influencing public perception.
Security officials maintain that counterterrorism operations across the region will continue to dismantle terrorist networks and bring those responsible for attacks on civilians and law enforcement personnel to justice.
