The Story Behind the Halwa

According to locals, the tradition of making halwa in Gwadar began 70 to 80 years ago.

“A halwai named Bandali from the Hindu community was the first to make it. A young man named Khuda Bakhsh worked in his shop and later added his own touch to the recipe, giving it a distinctive flavor.”

Khuda Bakhsh eventually opened his own shop, which is still run by his descendants today.
Gwadar has around a dozen halwa shops, but Dost Muhammad halwai and Rasool Bhaksh, shops in Shahi Bazaar attracts the most customers. Both locals and tourists visit to enjoy it.
