The Inter-Educational Institute Sports Festival 2025 was inaugurated at the Mir Abdul Ghafoor Kalmati Cricket Stadium in Gwadar, organized collaboratively by the Balochistan government, district administration, and the Pakistan Army.

The festival commenced with Major General Habib Nawaz, General Officer Commanding 44 Division, striking the opening cricket ball, while DGDA Moin Rahman bowled it. The event was attended by DIG Police Dr. Parvez Imrani, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr. Abdul Shakoor, SSP Ata-ur-Rehman, regional leader Mir Arshad Kalmati, officials, distinguished guests, and a large number of citizens.

Speaking at the opening, Major General Habib Nawaz highlighted the significance of sports festivals in youth training, character building, and skill development. He added that athletes from even small towns could achieve national recognition through discipline, hard work, and guidance from coaches and teachers.

Festival host Mir Arshad Kalmati said Gwadar’s athletes have already proven themselves at the national level, and the event aims to encourage young people to engage in positive and constructive activities. The festival, running from November 22 to December 1, features multiple competitions among schools, colleges, and universities. The opening day included a friendly women’s cricket match, which received widespread appreciation.

The University of Gwadar delivered an impressive performance at the Meer Kalmati Inter-Educational Institute Sports Festival 2025, held at GDA Public Higher Secondary School. The university’s athletes excelled in various events, securing victories and demonstrating skill and teamwork.

In futsal, the University of Gwadar defeated Government Gowtari High School 5–1, advancing to the next tournament round. In individual sports, Shehryar won the table tennis match, while Mr. Zubair claimed victory in badminton, both advancing to subsequent rounds.

The university’s girls’ teams also competed enthusiastically. Though the girls’ badminton team lost to Girls College and the girls’ table tennis team was defeated by GDA PHSS, their participation highlighted the growing involvement and dedication of female athletes in Gwadar.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir praised the students’ commitment, emphasizing the university’s focus on promoting both academic and athletic excellence. Director of Sports Saghir Naseem commended all teams for their discipline and sportsmanship, affirming the department’s dedication to nurturing talent in competitive sports.

The festival continues to foster healthy competition, sportsmanship, and collaboration among students, contributing to the development of Gwadar’s next generation of athletes.
