The Ministry of Maritime Affairs has announced plans to significantly expand Gwadar Port’s operational capacity by introducing additional shipping lines and launching a ferry service linking Pakistan with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This initiative aims to transform Gwadar into a pivotal transshipment and logistics hub in the Arabian Sea, boosting regional connectivity and trade.
During a high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, the minister emphasized the significance of fully integrating Gwadar Port into international maritime networks to maximize its economic potential.

With increased shipping connections, the port is expected to facilitate greater cargo movement, promote transit trade with Central Asia and the Middle East, and enhance Pakistan’s presence in the regional logistics sector.
Additionally, the planned ferry service will provide an affordable, direct maritime link for passengers and cargo. This service is set to benefit expatriates, cross-border traders, and tourists while creating opportunities for local employment in Balochistan and attracting private sector investment in ship services, hospitality, and transportation industries.
