Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail recently visited St. Petersburg Mining University in Russia, highlighting the immense potential for Pakistan, particularly Balochistan, to evolve from an agriculture-based economy to a modern industrial hub.
Drawing parallels between Russia’s rise as a global superpower and the university’s world-class standing in research and engineering, Governor Mandokhail underscored the importance of leveraging Russia’s expertise. He emphasized that collaboration with institutions like St. Petersburg Mining University could significantly aid Pakistan’s progress in industrial and technological development.
During the visit, the governor received a warm welcome and was given a comprehensive overview of the university’s history and exceptional academic achievements. He applauded the institution’s role as a leader in research, noting its potential to inspire Balochistan’s public sector universities.
Governor Mandokhail also stressed Balochistan’s unique geographical advantages and abundant natural resources. He called for stronger bilateral ties and institutional partnerships focused on knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and capacity building. Such partnerships, he argued, would enable students in Balochistan’s public universities to access advanced academic resources and skill development opportunities.
Earlier, the governor toured key facilities at St. Petersburg Mining University, including classrooms, simulators, and its museum. He expressed particular interest in the exhibits and shared his desire for guidance to enhance the academic standards of universities in Balochistan.
Governor Mandokhail’s visit reflects a forward-looking vision to foster global academic collaborations, equipping Balochistan’s youth with cutting-edge knowledge and tools to meet the challenges of a rapidly modernizing world.
