The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission has issued an important directive aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
According to an official notification, all Returning Officers (ROs) across the 24 electoral constituencies have been instructed to immediately convey directions from the Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan to all Presiding Officers under their jurisdiction.
The directive requires Presiding Officers to provide a certified copy of Form-45 (Statement of the Count) to the polling agents of all contesting candidates present at polling stations.
The Election Commission emphasized that the measure is fully in line with the relevant provisions of the Election Act, 2017, and Election Rules, 2017. The objective is to maintain transparency in vote counting and facilitate the smooth transmission and announcement of election results.
Returning Officers have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the instructions in both letter and spirit.
Election officials stated that the timely provision of Form-45 to polling agents is a key transparency mechanism that helps strengthen confidence in the electoral process and promotes credibility in the compilation and announcement of results.
