Seven people, including women and children, were killed and several others injured in a gas cylinder explosion in Chaman, police said.
According to police, the incident occurred near Tor Pul in Chaman, where a gas cylinder exploded inside a house, resulting in the deaths of seven children. At least 17 people were injured in the blast.
The explosion took place at the residence of a local businessman, Haji Abdul Rasheed. Rescue officials recovered the bodies of seven children from the rubble, while 17 injured individuals were shifted to the DHQ Hospital for medical treatment. Of these, seven critically injured victims were referred to Quetta.
Police said the room collapsed due to the gas cylinder explosion. In another statement, Chaman police reported that a total of seven people, including children, were killed and 25 others injured as multiple rooms of the house collapsed following the blast.
According to initial investigations, the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder. Police said the incident occurred while lassi (a traditional yogurt drink) was being distributed. A large number of women and children had gathered to collect lassi when a 20-kilogram gas cylinder placed in the kitchen exploded.
Police further stated that the Bomb Disposal Squad was also called in after the incident. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing.
