The seawater at Gadani Jetty in Balochistan has turned pink due to a natural microbiological change, according to the Environmental Protection Department’s recent investigative report.
Deputy Director of Environment Imran Saeed Kakar explained that prolonged stagnation of the water caused the phenomenon.
Environmental experts attribute the pink coloration to the growth of halophilic bacteria and salt-tolerant microorganisms, which not only change the water’s appearance but may also present potential health risks to humans.
