In a significant counterterrorism development, four key militants were killed in a joint operation conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and intelligence agencies in Balochistan’s Pishin district.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was initiated on the basis of actionable intelligence, and a heavy exchange of gunfire ensued during the raid. All four suspects were neutralised in the encounter.
The spokesperson revealed that the militants were involved in a string of high-profile attacks across the province. These include the targeted killing of a Levies officer in Pishin, an armed assault on a Frontier Corps truck along Chaman Road, and multiple attacks on police personnel in the region.
During the operation, security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives from the site. The seized items include two Kalashnikov rifles, two 9mm pistols, two hand grenades, a detonator, a primer card, and other explosive materials. Authorities believe the group was in the advanced stages of planning further attacks.
“The operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace and stability in Balochistan,” the spokesperson said, adding that the identities of the deceased militants are being verified.
The bodies have been shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities. A search operation has been launched in the surrounding areas to apprehend any remaining accomplices.
Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their resolve to continue targeted operations against terrorist elements in the province. The CTD has urged citizens to report any suspicious activity to authorities in order to assist in maintaining law and order.
