A former commander of the banned Baloch National Movement (BNM) has made startling revelations about the operational nexus between the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), and the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).
In an interview with Geo News, the former BNM commander Sarfraz Bangulzai, who surrendered to the state in October 2023, said that these groups operate as an interconnected terrorist network. He revealed that the BYC acts as a political and social front for banned outfits, advancing their anti-state agenda under the guise of social activism.
Bangulzai said that India’s intelligence agency RAW provides financial and logistical backing to these networks through handlers operating from Afghanistan and Europe.
He also identified online platforms including The Balochistan Post, Sangar, and Zrumbash as propaganda tools used to spread misinformation and recruit young Baloch through emotional slogans of “freedom” and “resistance.” According to him, while leaders live safely abroad, young people are pushed toward violence and destruction.
The former commander stressed the need for effective border management with Afghanistan and Iran to curb arms smuggling, illegal trade, and cross-border infiltration that sustain such groups. He urged the state to expand reintegration programs for surrendered militants and raise awareness among youth to prevent recruitment by terrorist organizations.
Bangulzai’s claims are consistent with earlier statements by Imam Gulzar Shambay, who was arrested in May 2023 during a high-intelligence operation. Imam had revealed that Dr. Mahrang Baloch’s father, Ghaffar Langov, was a BLA commander whose grave bears the group’s flag.
He also said that the BYC serves as a recruitment platform for the banned BLA, drawing students into militancy under the cover of activism.
