Foreign Office of Pakistan has expressed deep concern over a deadly attack on tourists in the Pahalgam area of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which resulted in the tragic loss of 26 lives and left 17 others injured.
Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan expressed Pakistan’s condolences, saying, “This unfortunate incident saddens us, and we sympathize with the families of the deceased.” We extend our heartfelt condolences to their loved ones and wish the injured a swift recovery.” Pakistan also voiced alarm over the targeting of tourists in the Anantnag district, calling it a grave loss of innocent lives.

The attack has sparked significant unrest in the area. Over a dozen local organizations called for a shutdown across the federal territory to protest the incident. Many schools halted classes for the day as part of the protest. Meanwhile, tourists began leaving the region in large numbers, with airlines arranging additional flights from Srinagar to accommodate the exodus.
