Balochistan food authority takes action against substandard food

The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) intensified its efforts to combat adulterated milk and substandard food items with recent inspections across various districts, including Quetta, Turbat, and Zhob.

On Thursday, BFA teams conducted inspections at 20 outlets, including five milk shops, which were fined for non-compliance. These inspections, prompted by public complaints, focused on high-traffic areas like Sariab Road, Eastern Bypass, and Satellite Town.

One pizza outlet faced penalties for multiple violations, including improper storage of raw and cooked food and the use of reused cooking oil. A bakery was fined for poor hygiene practices, such as using newspapers for packaging, contaminated baking trays, and staff neglecting personal hygiene standards.

Despite prior warnings, a besan (gram flour) production unit continued operations without proper registration or labeling, leading to the confiscation of a significant quantity of substandard products.

Zonal inspection teams in Turbat and Zhob found further violations, penalizing five bakers, one milk seller for adulteration, a bread seller for providing underweight bread, and a wholesale trader operating without a license.

BFA continues to step up its campaign to ensure food quality and safety across the province.
