An Airbus A-319 landed at Quetta International Airport at 9:15 PM and departed for Zahedan, the capital of Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province, at 11:30 PM with 75 passengers on board, following a stay of over two hours.
Iran Air has launched a new weekly flight service between Quetta and Zahedan, with plans to increase the frequency based on passenger demand.
To mark the occasion, a special ceremony was held at Quetta Airport, attended by notable dignitaries including the consul general and officials from the Iranian Consulate in Quetta, members of the local business community, and representatives from the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Key airport staff, including Quetta Airport Manager Waheed Shah, Terminal Manager Ismail Khoso, and ASF Chief Security Officer, were also present to see off the passengers.
This development comes after Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced last month that pilgrims would not be allowed to travel by road to Iran and Iraq for Arbaeen due to security concerns. In a social media post, he stated, “After extensive consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Balochistan Government, and security agencies, we have decided that Zaireen will not be allowed to travel to Iraq and Iran by road for Arbaeen this year.”
