Five BLA Militants Killed in CTD Operation in Mastung

Five militants of the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA-A) were killed on Monday in a successful CTD operation in Mastung, officials said.

The intelligence-based operation was carried out by the Counter Terrorism Department Balochistan (CTD) in the Dasht area after reports that militants were planning to block the Quetta–Sibi Highway and target security forces and civilian traffic.

According to CTD officials, teams reached the area around 4:45 pm and established surveillance. The militants opened indiscriminate fire upon spotting the law enforcement personnel, triggering a heavy exchange of gunfire.

As a result, five militants were killed, while others escaped by taking advantage of the mountainous terrain.

Weapons Recovered

CTD recovered arms and explosives from the site, including:

  • Five submachine guns with live ammunition

  • Seven hand grenades

  • Three motorcycles

The bodies were shifted to SPHQ Hospital Quetta, while an FIR is being registered at CTD Police Station Quetta. Authorities said search and combing operations are underway to apprehend the fleeing militants and dismantle the remaining network.

Officials reaffirmed that intelligence-based operations would continue across Balochistan to prevent militant activities and ensure security on major highways.
