Trump and Army chief discuss regional stability and trade in White House

Field Marshal Asim Munir met with former US President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss key regional and global issues. The meeting, which extended over two hours, fostered dialogue on the Iran-Israel tensions, trade partnership opportunities, and Trump’s role in brokering the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India.

The US president praised Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership and Pakistan’s efforts in stabilizing the region, particularly during last month’s 87-hour conflict with India. The clashes, triggered by the Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in civilian and military casualties before ending with a US-brokered ceasefire on May 10. Trump also reiterated his offer to mediate the longstanding Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India.

The leaders exchanged views on collaboration in various sectors, including energy, AI, cryptocurrency, and emerging technologies. President Trump expressed a strong interest in developing a long-term trade partnership with Pakistan, rooted in shared strategic goals.

Both sides emphasized the need for resolving the Iran-Israel conflict, highlighting their commitment to global peace and stability. Field Marshal Munir invited Trump to visit Pakistan, reflecting the deepening ties between the two nations.
