In a major move to strengthen law and order in Balochistan, Govt has decided to deploy the Federal Constabulary, with around 3,000 personnel to be stationed across the province in the first phase.
The decision was taken during a high-level security meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti. Senior officials from key federal and provincial institutions attended the meeting.
The participants were given detailed briefings on the overall security situation in Balochistan, including the repatriation of Afghan refugees, and ongoing efforts against hawala/hundi networks, extortion, and smuggling.
Senior officials, including the Chairman NADRA, Director General FIA, DG NACTA/NCCI, and Inspector General Federal Constabulary, briefed the meeting on progress and challenges in their respective areas.
It was also decided to make the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) more active in Balochistan. In this regard, all vacant posts will be filled with local recruits to improve operational effectiveness.
The federal and provincial governments agreed to further strengthen monitoring of anti-state activities on social media and to speed up action against those involved in spreading misinformation and propaganda.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured full support to the Balochistan government, saying the federal government will assist in enhancing the professional capacity of the Balochistan Police.
“We are fully aware of the ground realities in Balochistan and will extend all-out support to ensure lasting peace,” he said.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the government is determined to eliminate terrorism with full force.
“The fight against terrorism is not just for security forces but a collective responsibility of the entire nation,” he stated, adding that the writ of the state will be enforced at all costs.
He further noted that, unlike in the past, no highways in Balochistan are currently blocked in the name of protests, and appreciated the federal government’s continued support in restoring peace.
