Security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kalat District of Balochistan on December 24, 2025, targeting the reported presence of terrorists, officials confirmed.
According to official sources, security personnel effectively engaged a terrorist hideout during the operation. Following an intense exchange of fire, eight terrorists were killed. A cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered from the site.
Authorities stated that the neutralized militants were actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.
Following the operation, sanitization and clearance activities were initiated to ensure that no other terrorists remained in the vicinity.
Operation Conducted Under ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’
The operation forms part of Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the national vision “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan (NAP).
Security officials reiterated that the campaign against foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism will continue at full pace, with coordination between the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) across the country.
Security Analyst Highlights Diplomatic Dimension
Commenting on the operation, security analyst Brigadier (Retired) Harris Nawaz stated that security forces in Balochistan have significantly weakened militant networks on the ground.
“Terrorism in Balochistan has been struck at its roots. Today, it largely survives in Indian fake-news narratives on social media,” he said.
However, he cautioned that while militant proxies have been weakened domestically, their soft power presence still exists in regions such as the GCC and Europe.
“Security operations are only one side of the coin. Pakistan must complement kinetic actions with active diplomacy to restrain foreign elements of Fitna-tul-Hindustan. Pakistan is in a better diplomatic position today than ever before and must leverage it effectively,” he added.
Balochistan Counter-Terrorism Statistics
The operation comes amid the release of a comprehensive counter-terrorism report by the Balochistan Home Department, which highlights the scale of security efforts in the province:
-
78,000 intelligence-based operations conducted in Balochistan over the past year
-
707 terrorists killed during these operations
-
202 security personnel martyred while performing counter-terrorism duties
Earlier, in November 2025, Director General ISPR stated during a media briefing in Peshawar that:
-
62,113 counter-terrorism operations were conducted nationwide in 2025
-
An average of 208 operations per day
Security officials emphasized that Pakistan’s counter-terrorism strategy remains focused on eliminating remaining terrorist networks, disrupting their support systems, and preventing cross-border and foreign-sponsored militancy.
The latest operation in Kalat underscores the continued resolve of Pakistan’s security forces to maintain stability and security, particularly in sensitive regions such as Balochistan.
