The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, carried out a joint operation in Balochistan’s Duki district, killing five militants. The operation took place in the Dhabar Pahari area and targeted individuals belonging to BLA, according to a CTD statement. These militants were reportedly involved in attacks on coal mines, security forces, and civilians.

The bodies of the slain individuals were moved to Duki Civil Hospital for identification and further procedures.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti commended the efforts of the CTD, Frontier Constabulary (FC), and other law enforcement agencies. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protect the lives and property of the people, pledging to counter all conspiracies against the region’s stability. “Anti-peace elements will not be tolerated,” CM Bugti stated, highlighting the provincial government’s ongoing efforts toward peace and development.

This operation comes amidst an increase in militancy, particularly in the regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. A report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) noted that militant activity surged in March, with over 100 attacks during the month, the highest figure since November 2014.

Earlier this week, the Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir stressed Pakistan’s resolve to counter terrorism. “Our enemies must understand that a handful of militants cannot dictate Pakistan’s future,” he said, reaffirming the state’s determination to eliminate threats to national stability.

Pakistan ranked second on the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with a 45% surge in casualties compared to the previous year, underscoring the pressing need for robust counterterrorism initiatives.
