The Commissioner of Quetta Division and Administrator of the Metropolitan Corporation Quetta, Muhammad Hamza Shafqat, has taken decisive action to regulate traffic flow and oversee construction projects in Quetta’s “Downtown” area. These measures are aimed at improving public convenience, supporting better urban planning, and complying with the Chief Minister of Balochistan’s directives.
Within the designated Downtown boundaries, spanning multiple key routes such as China Chowk to Gulistan Highway, Toghi Road to Rehmatullah Road, and Khatm-e-Nabuwat Chowk to Pishin Stop, the regulations focus on reducing traffic congestion and ensuring smoother movement.
Key property regulations mandate that shopping mall, residential plaza, and private hospital owners ensure parking availability within their premises. Parking must be provided in the basement or, if unavailable, converted from ground floors. Repurposing parking space for other uses is strictly prohibited, and violations can lead to the cancellation of property maps and building closures. Private hospital owners are required to submit building plans, permits, and Health Commission NOCs to the Metropolitan Corporation within 15 days of notice issuance. Non-compliance will result in legal action and liability on the hospital management.
Urban planning and traffic management authorities recommended these rules, enacted under Section 63 of the Balochistan Local Government Act 2010. Property owners and residents must follow these regulations to promote successful urban development and enhance the quality of life in Quetta.
