India-Pakistan DGMOs' talk postponed to evening

The planned communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan and India has been deferred, as reported by a news agency on Monday. According to the report, the DGMO-level dialogue, which was anticipated to occur earlier today, is now expected to take place later this evening.

No official explanation was given for the postponement. Prime Minister Modi of India presided over a high-level meeting prior to the scheduled truce discussions between the DGMOs of Pakistan and India.

The DGMO of the Pakistan Army was set to converse with Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, the DGMO of the Indian Army, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement between the two nations, following the announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding the resolution of border tensions.

This development follows a statement made by Major General Ahmed Sharif, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during a press conference, where he reiterated Pakistan’s willingness to engage in military-to-military communication with India, including DGMO-level discussions, as a standard practice to ensure stability along the Line of Control (LoC) and prevent escalation.

As of Monday noon, a tenuous ceasefire between India and Pakistan, established after a series of high-level military communications, was still in effect, with expectations for dialogue between the two nations’ DGMOs later in the day, as confirmed by officials. Military hotlines between the two countries have been reactivated to address any potential future incidents.

During a recent press conference, Major General Ahmed Sharif, the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations, affirmed Pakistan’s dedication to utilizing military communication channels, including Director General Military Operations discussions, and underscored the importance of exercising restraint and engaging in dialogue in light of escalating tensions. The global community remains vigilant, closely observing the situation due to concerns regarding the possibility of renewed conflict if a lasting diplomatic resolution is not achieved.
