Terror Plot Foiled in Dera Murad Jamali Today after Explosive material planted on the railway track was recovered, and the Bomb Disposal Squad successfully neutralized it through timely action.

Security forces on Tuesday foiled a major sabotage attempt after recovering explosive material planted on a railway track near Dera Murad Jamali, while separate incidents in the region — including an armed attack on a medical college campus and arrests in Ziarat — highlight growing militant activity across Balochistan.

Earlier today, security personnel detected explosives fixed to the railway track, an apparent attempt to target a passenger train passing through the area.
Officials said the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was immediately called in and successfully neutralised the device through timely action, preventing what authorities described as an “attempted act of sabotage” on civilian infrastructure.

Security sources said the sabotage attempt was intended to cause mass casualties, and investigations are underway to trace those who planted the explosive material.

On Sunday, armed militants belonging to Fitna-ul-Hindustan launched an attack on the under-construction Benazir Bhutto Medical College campus outside Dera Murad Jamali. Security forces and police rushed to the site after initial reports and engaged the attackers in a firefight.

A heavy exchange of fire continued for several minutes, leaving at least three militants injured. However, the attackers managed to escape, carrying their wounded accomplices with them. The area has since been cordoned off, and officials say the investigation remains ongoing.

In a separate operation late Sunday evening, security forces in Ziarat district arrested five armed suspects attempting to flee through the Asperah Raghla checkpost.
Deputy Commissioner Riaz Dawar confirmed that the detainees hailed from Afghanistan’s Kandahar province.

Recovered weapons included 11 hand grenades, three submachine guns, two M4 rifles, a grenade launcher, communication devices, and a large quantity of ammunition. A motorcycle and literature linked to the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were also seized.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti lauded the security personnel for the successful operations.

“The timely action of the security forces and their sacrifices for the protection of the people of Balochistan are our pride,” he said.

Authorities say vigilance has been increased around transport routes, public facilities and construction sites amid fears of coordinated terror attempts in the province.
