Pakistan Customs Gadani seizes 188kg hashish in major anti-smuggling operation
Pakistan Customs recovers 188kg hashish worth over Rs552 million from a modified container at Kurkhera Check Post.

Pakistan Customs Gadani on Thursday foiled a major narcotics smuggling attempt, recovering 188 kilogrammes of hashish valued at Rs552.44 million, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said in a statement.

According to officials, the seizure was made after a container-mounted vehicle was intercepted at the Kurkhera Check Post on the basis of specific intelligence shared by the Collector Customs Enforcement, Gadani. During enhanced checking, the vehicle—declared to be transporting “cut tyres”—was redirected for a detailed inspection.

A thorough search led to the discovery of two oversized tyres that had been modified with concealed compartments. Customs personnel recovered 169 packets of hashish hidden inside the tyres. The individual accompanying the vehicle was detained on the spot, while the narcotics, tyres and vehicle were seized under the Customs Act, 1969.

Authorities said the total assessed value of the seized drugs, along with the vehicle, amounts to Rs552.437 million. An investigation into the smuggling attempt is currently underway.

The FBR said the operation demonstrates its continued efforts to curb narcotics trafficking, safeguard national security and enforce laws against illicit trade.

Related Seizure at Khunjerab Pass

A day earlier, Pakistan Customs intercepted 80 bottles (20 litres) of liquor and 40 kilogrammes of pork meat smuggled through the Khunjerab Pass, in violation of Pakistan’s import prohibitions.

The estimated duty and taxes on the seized contraband amounted to Rs78.5 million. All items were confiscated under the Customs Act, 1969, and legal proceedings are in progress.

The FBR said both operations illustrate its commitment to preventing smuggling, protecting national revenue, and upholding strict enforcement measures across the country.
