A senior officer of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) was martyred in a targeted attack by terrorists in Quetta on Sunday, by the banned terrorist outfit BLA.
Sub-Inspector Metha Khan, a veteran law enforcement officer, was shot dead near Jinnah Town Police Station in the Killi Ismail area of the provincial capital.
According to police, terrorists opened fire on the officer outside the police station premises. Metha Khan sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.
The Balochistan government expressed deep grief over the tragic incident. Minister for Political and Media Affairs to the Chief Minister Shahid Rind, in a statement, strongly condemned the attack and paid tribute to the fallen officer.
Rind described Sub-Inspector Metha Khan as a brave and dedicated officer who had rendered valuable services in maintaining peace and security across Balochistan.
Authorities said a search operation has been launched in the surrounding areas to apprehend the attackers.
Naib Tehsildar Killed in Separate Attack in Kachhi
In a separate incident on Friday, a Naib Tehsildar was martyred after terrorists of Banned outfit opened fire on his vehicle in the Khatan area of Kachhi district.
Police officials said Naib Tehsildar Sher Dil Abro was travelling with his family to his native village Khatan when terrorists belonging to a banned outfit targeted his vehicle.
According to police, the attackers opened fire when his vehicle reached near Khatan, leaving Sher Dil critically injured after he sustained multiple bullet wounds.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted him to the district hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
“Sher Dil received multiple bullet wounds that caused his death,” police officials said.
Family members traveling with him remained unharmed in the attack.
After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family. Security forces later launched a search operation in the area to track down those responsible for the attack.

Last year ADC Turbat Hidayat Ullah was martyred by BLA. On January 06, Dilawar Khan, a lecturer at the University of Balochistan’s Kharan sub-campus, was killed in a targeted armed attack by the Baloch Liberation Army.
