The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has killed five terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek Taliban Pakistan( Fitna-u- Khawarij) during an intelligence-based operation near the Sur Khab migrant/refugee camp area of Pishin district, officials confirmed on Sunday.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was conducted after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of terrorists planning major attacks in the region. When CTD teams reached the area and initiated a cordon-and-search operation, the suspects opened fire, leading to a fierce gun battle. As a result, all five terrorists were killed on the spot.
Officials said that weapons and a large quantity of explosive material were recovered from the vehicle used by the terrorists. No casualties were reported among CTD personnel during the operation.
Planned Attacks Foiled
CTD officials stated that preliminary investigations indicate the killed terrorists were planning coordinated attacks on police lines and a cadet college. The timely intelligence-based action successfully foiled the planned assaults, preventing potential large-scale loss of life.
Following the encounter, CTD teams carried out a search and clearance operation in the surrounding area to eliminate any remaining threats and identify possible facilitators. Authorities said efforts are under way to establish the identities of the deceased terrorists and trace their network.
Security Operations to Continue
The CTD reiterated its commitment to continue intelligence-led operations across the province to counter terrorism and ensure public safety. Officials emphasized that operations against militant networks will remain ongoing to maintain law and order in sensitive areas.
