Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has called for Pakistan to transition into a “hard state,” emphasizing the importance of national security and governance. Speaking at the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, he questioned how long Pakistan will continue to function as a “soft state” at the cost of countless lives.

“This is a battle for survival for us and the generations to come,” he stated. Urging immediate improvements in governance, General Munir highlighted the need for creating harmony among all elements of national power to achieve lasting stability. He asked, “How long will we rely on the sacrifices of our armed forces and the blood of our martyrs to fill governance gaps?”

The army chief also underlined the role of religious scholars in countering extremist narratives, calling on them to address the distorted interpretations of Islam spread by extremist groups.

Army Cheif issued a clear warning to hostile forces and their facilitators seeking to destabilize Pakistan through terrorism. “Those who believe they can weaken Pakistan should take today’s message as a warning. We are united, and we will defeat these forces,” he said. Reaffirming Pakistan’s resilience, he expressed his faith in divine support, stating, “With the will of Allah, we will succeed.”

The recent statement from the National Security Committee and the Army Chief’s address strongly suggest that an operation is on the horizon. Defense Analyst Brig. (R) Waqar Hassan Khan, in an interview with ”Balochistan Pulse”, described the attack on the Jaffar Express as a wake-up call, emphasizing that a critical red line has been crossed.

Referring to the DG ISPR’s statement that “the rules of the game have changed,” he suggested that a comprehensive military operation is imminent. Brig. Waqar further asserted that the BLA operates as a proxy for India and expressed confidence that both the BLA and TTP will be eradicated in Pakistan, down to their last operatives. The forthcoming developments will likely shed light on how this operation is structured and its potential impact on the security landscape.
