Pakistan is ready to take lead in global mineral economy, says COAS

Pakistan is ready to take the lead in the global mineral economy, declared Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir during the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum 2025 in Islamabad. Addressing international stakeholders, Army chief encouraged collaboration to unlock Pakistan’s vast mineral potential while emphasizing the country’s commitment to becoming a reliable and confident investment partner.

General Asim Munir highlighted the immense opportunity within Pakistan’s mineral reserves, calling for the expertise of engineers, geologists, operators, and skilled miners to drive exploration and development. He further noted that young Pakistani students, including 27 from Balochistan currently training in Zambia and Argentina, are being supported through specialized programs to build the sector’s skilled workforce.

The COAS identified economic security as a key aspect of national security. Promising a strong security framework, General Asim Munir assured investors their interests would be safeguarded. He emphasized the significance of refining and value addition to mineral resources to enhance cost efficiency and diversify market opportunities.

Army chief called on global stakeholders and institutions to invest in Pakistan’s mineral resources, highlighting the nation’s transparent mineral policies and its aspirations to create a thriving mineral sector. “With vast mineral reserves beneath our soil, skills in our hands, and a transparent mineral policy in place, there is no room for despair or inaction,” he stated.

Acknowledging the role of Balochistan’s tribal elders, General Asim Munir praised their contributions to fostering mining activities and local progress. He underscored Pakistan’s vision for a mineral sector that drives regional prosperity, sustainability, and collective development.

COAS concluded with an optimistic message, urging all stakeholders to “move forward and strive—for your country and yourselves” while pledging Pakistan’s support as a trustworthy partner in developing the sector.
