Balochistan’s civil-military leadership came together in Gwadar to advance a shared vision of peace, stability, and development in Balochistan during the high-profile Gwadar Grand Jirga. The gathering highlighted Gwadar’s growing importance as a strategic, economic, and tourism hub.
A major public and official gathering, the Gwadar Grand Jirga, was held in Gwadar to promote peace, stability, and inclusive development across Balochistan. The event drew significant participation from government officials, military leadership, tribal elders, and civil society, underscoring its importance.
The jirga was attended by Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, senior military officials including the Corps Commander Balochistan Lieutenant General Rahat Naseem Ahmad Khan, and the GOC Gwadar. Representatives from the business community, fishermen, local administration, and civil society were also present.
During the session, detailed discussions were held on the overall situation in Balochistan, particularly focusing on development priorities in the Makran Division and Gwadar region.
In his address, Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail emphasized that sustainable development in the province is closely linked to public participation, tribal harmony, and continuity of government policies. He stated that all institutions are actively working to ensure that the benefits of development in Gwadar reach the local population directly. He also highlighted the importance of economically empowering women, youth, and the fishing community.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti noted that the provincial government is accelerating development initiatives across all districts, with Gwadar receiving special priority. He stressed the need to engage Baloch youth in education and positive activities to steer them away from violence. He further underscored that cooperation between the public and security forces is crucial for the success of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and other ongoing projects. He added that development schemes related to roads, water supply, education, and healthcare are vital for public welfare.
The Corps Commander Balochistan assured participants that security forces are taking all necessary measures to maintain peace in Balochistan and to safeguard development projects. He stated that ensuring security in Gwadar and the Makran Division remains a top priority so that CPEC and other initiatives can continue without disruption. He emphasized that trust and cooperation between citizens and security institutions are essential for lasting peace.

The Governor and Chief Minister listened to public concerns and assured that legitimate demands would be addressed on a priority basis. They reiterated the shared goal of transforming Gwadar into a peaceful, developed, and globally recognized city.
Later, Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, and the Corps Commander Balochistan inaugurated a memorial in Gwadar for Police Constable Muhammad Khumari Baloch, who was martyred in a terrorist attack on May 11, 2025.
